Ramadan is the month of forgiveness:
I bring glad tidings.
Imagine a person who owes 37 million, whose house has been seized, who is under house arrest awaiting trial, and who fully expects to be imprisoned. This is a person in true distress. Now imagine someone says to him: "If you do this for 30 days, all your debt will be wiped clean.” Would he hesitate for even a moment?
Given his situation- burdened with enormous debt, property confiscated, awaiting trial - would he ever delay accepting such an offer?
Our master, Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be please with him) said a statement I never tire of repeating.
(( There are three qualities through which I truly consider myself a real man … ))
The word "men" in Quran and Sunnah does not refer merely to gender; it refers to heroism.
Allah Almighty says:
﴾ Men whom neither trade nor sale diverts them from the Remembrance of Allah ﴿
Among those three qualities, Sa’d said:
(( I have never heard something from the Prophet (PBUH) except that I knew with certainty it was the truth revealed to Him by Allah the Almighty ))
(( Abu Huraira reported that the messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking Allah’s reward will have his past sins forgiven". ))
Even if your sins were as great as a mountain, if you fast the month of Ramadan as Allah commands- spending its days in worship rather than watching TV, fasting out of devotion rather than habit, fasting with Taqwa (fearing Allah) by avoiding sins, and seeking Allah's pleasure without turning away - you will receive forgiveness:
(( Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking Allah’s reward will have his past sins forgiven ))
Allah says:
﴾ Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only revelation sent down to him. ﴿
In another Hadith:
((Whoever stands in prayer during the nights of Ramadan out of faith and seeking Allah’s reward will have his previous sins forgiven. ))
[ Agreed upon, by the authority of Abu Huraira ]
((Whoever stands in prayer during the nights of Ramadan ))
This refers to Taraweeh prayers.
(( …Out of faith and seeking Allah’s reward will have his previous sins forgiven. ))
Some scholars said: "The highest form of reciting Quran is to recite it while standing in prayer in the Masjid"
The utmost reward for reciting Quran is to do so while standing in prayer in the Masjid. This refers specifically to Taraweeh which combines recitation, humility, and standing before Allah.
Ramadan is the month of reciting the Noble Quran, the month of forgiveness, the month of sincere repentance, the month of reconciling with Allah, the month of turning back to Him, the month of night prayer, and the month of performing Fajr in congregation at the Masjid.
